Flirting With Tall Brad

Tall Brad is now officially Too Old to Flirt. Sorry, ladies.

Entry Fee

There will be a $10 entry fee per team, which must be received by Tall Brad or Larry by Wednesday, September 8th. As always, you are encouraged to use cash if possible, but we do have PayPal for your convenience.

Weekly Competition

Each week, every team owner selects a lineup of whatever NFL players they want for the given week; after the week's games are over, the lineup with the most points wins. The weekly roster consists of a traditional mix - one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end and one placekicker.

See? So simple a lesser primate could do it. (In fact -- and I swear this is true -- in 2004 a ring-tailed lemur actually won week 11, but we had to cancel that week's prizes when it turned out he'd hacked the site.)

The first week of the season, picks are from a pool of players listed on the NFL's pre-season stats. Although I'd expect these to have some grounding in reality, it remains possible that

  • A player may show as available who is, in fact, injured, retired, or an alien abductee. Or Brett Favre.
  • A player won't show as available, even though he's suited up and on the sidelines.
  • A player who has been traded will appear with his old team (unlikely, but conceivable).

After the first week, the pool of available players will be built from this season's data, and the above problems should mostly go away. If at any time you want to pick a player who doesn't appear on the pick list -- say, if you have it on Very Good Authority that Michael Vick busted out of Leavenworth -- please let the Commissioner know so he can either scoff at you or manually add the player, depending on how much time is left before the weekly roster deadline (see below).

The weekly deadline for making your picks will appear prominantly at the top of the CDFFL home page. If your roster has not been selected by the specified time, the previous week's picks will be used -- except for Week 1, when we get to choose your roster for you. Since you can edit your roster right up to the filing deadline, it's in your best interest to get picks in early. And because you can now submit rosters for any week in the future, your excuses for going without are getting pretty slim.

Note: There is a Thursday game for Week 1; make sure you get your picks in on time! There will be no exceptions. If you don't have picks in by then, the software will choose a team for you. Nya nya nya.
